10 Style Resolutions for 2025

Read time 6

Failing to do it in an original way, we wish you from the bottom of our hearts a beautiful and happy new year. As we write, the whole team is touching wood so that the coming months bring you peace and prosperity, joy and health, success and achievement.

For our part, we assure you that we will start 2025 as we ended 2024: with an intact passion for men's clothing, an unchanged love for beautiful materials and the unwavering desire to offer you exceptional clothing for everyday life.

And to start the year off right, we offer you 10 style resolutions to add to your list of good intentions.

Resolution #1: Take a step towards accessories

As their name does not indicate at all, accessories are absolutely crucial to create successful and balanced outfits. This year, we therefore urge you to use the services of these everyday assistants to exploit their full potential. Gloves , scarf , hat , cap but also tie , bow tie , pocket square , belt , scarf , socks or underpants : accessories are unrivaled in combining the useful with the pleasant . Far from being futile or dispensable, they will help you like no other to lay the foundations of an outfit, to embellish it or to perfect it. It's up to you.

Resolution #2: Dare to use color

According to a study conducted by ourselves without the slightest scientific rigor, 99.9% of men's outfits are made solely from blue, gray, black, white, brown and khaki. And if you ask us, that's just fine. These six shades are so versatile that they allow you to create simple and effective compositions without taking the slightest risk, which is an undeniable advantage. However, there are brighter and just as easy colors that, in our opinion, would be a shame to deprive yourself of. On the chromatic palette, purple, eggplant, orange , yellow, pink and green have immense and largely unexplored potential, which we invite you to discover without delay.

Resolution #3: Mix the registers

Over time, you have probably heard of the different "stylistic registers" that govern men's clothing. If you have already read or heard terms like "preppy", "ivy", "sartorial" or "workwear", we are happy to inform you that you are concerned. Each of these registers is based on codes that are good to master to build your style, but which it is happy to free yourself from to develop it. Also, the mixture of genres is an inexhaustible source of innovation for those who dare to arm themselves with creativity and inventiveness. A bandana with a suit , cargo pants with a hoodie , a shaggy sweater with pleated pants : it is always a question of blurring the lines and creating an unexpected shift, all in mastery.

Resolution #4: Allow clothes to live

Beautiful pieces - by which we mean quality pieces made with natural fibers - live their lives. They change. They acquire a patina. They soften. They adapt to the morphology of their wearer. Whether it is leather , wool , linen , denim or velvet , each material evolves in its own way and at its own pace, to the great delight of lovers of authenticity. This evolution is normal. Better still, it is beautiful. It evokes the passing of time and your intimate relationship with the pieces concerned. Also, we invite you to tolerate that your clothes live, that they become more and more charming by becoming more and more unique.

Resolution #5: Repair, mend, patch up

Obvious to our grandparents, repair has unfortunately deserted our lifestyles. In 2025, we suggest you put it back at the center of the game by (re)learning how to carry out small everyday operations. Patching a pair of socks, mending a sweater, changing a fly, sewing up a belt loop, fixing a small hole in a t-shirt: there is nothing rocket science, and the life expectancy of the pieces in question will easily be doubled. And between us, there is nothing more satisfying than a problem solved yourself.

Resolution #6: Try new stylistic gimmicks

Of course, we all need a comfort zone. A space that is reliable, familiar, and secure. Clothes can certainly play this role, whether it’s favorite pieces, tried-and-true combinations, or tried-and-true color schemes. That said, it can be just as rewarding to experiment beyond these boundaries , for example by daring to try new gimmicks. Untying your tie to give it a little slack, rolling up your pants instead of cuffing them, wearing socks in different colors, cutting off the sleeves of a piece you no longer wear to give it a second wind: the possibilities are endless, and so is your creativity.

Resolution #7: Trust motives

It's unfair, but it's a fact: patterns are scary. You only have to look around us to realize that we live in the empire of the plain - at least for Monsieur. The stripe manages to somehow make a place for itself in the wardrobe, but that's about it. At Hast, this situation seems unfortunate, not to say sad. Patterns have an extraordinary aesthetic potential, which is extraordinarily underestimated. This year, we suggest you turn a deaf ear to what people will say and adorn yourself, as much as possible, with stripes, checks , houndstooth , gingham , Prince of Wales and other houndstooth . Maybe not all at the same time, that said...

Resolution #8: Promote upcycling

The unbridled growth of fast fashion and ultra-fast fashion is a symptom of a world eaten away by mass consumption. We buy far too many clothes, we obviously wear them too little and throw them away too quickly. This is a major problem, and it is essential to rethink our consumption patterns to limit the overall impact of the textile industry. Three tips in this regard: buy less, buy better and promote upcycling. On this last point, know that we got up to date very early by developing all our underwear from the fabric scraps of our shirts. At the end of last year, we renewed this commitment by collaborating with Nona Source to revalue dormant fabric stocks from the Houses of the LVMH group.

Resolution #9: Consider a little more breadth

At the beginning of the 21st century, Hedi Slimane (then artistic director of the House of Dior) defined a new silhouette for men. Marked by the seal of narrowness, it flourished for about twenty years, to the point of becoming the absolute standard in the male wardrobe. In recent times, men's wardrobes have tended to free themselves from the influence of "slim" to find more natural and generous volumes. This has also been the case for our wardrobe for a few collections , and we warmly invite you to take the side of width in 2025.

Resolution #10: Educate yourself on exceptional subjects

Style education is a journey. In 2025, we challenge you to go further , no matter what your current state of knowledge is. If you don’t know the difference between synthetic and natural materials , start there. If, like us, you only like noble fibers, learn about the complementary properties of linen , cotton and wool. To dig even deeper, determine the difference between organic cotton and classic cotton, between virgin wool and merino wool, between pure linen and mixed fabric . Then, delve deeper into the structure of the fabrics: is it a knit, a jersey, a canvas, a serge or a satin? Raw material, thread diameter, density, manufacturing technique, dyeing process , place of manufacture: each step of the process is important, and taking an interest in it is the only way to buy consciously and responsibly.

Have a good trip and a happy new year!

And that's it for our little suggestions for resolutions. Fingers crossed that all or part of it inspires you, we wish you the best for the months to come and hope to be able to count, this year as in previous years, on your commitment to us, your loyalty and your sartorial friendship.

Honestly to you,

The HAST Team
