Wool or quality coats are winter must-haves. To keep them looking their best season after season, you need to give them a little TLC. Don't panic, with a few simple tips, you can extend their life and keep their shine. Here's a quick guide to taking care of your coat and keeping it looking like new for years to come!
Where to store it?
The coat is sturdy but a little delicate. Use thick hangers to preserve the shape of the shoulders and avoid creases. After a day in the rain, let it dry flat before hanging it to dry completely. Since wool is a living material, avoid distorting it by hanging it incorrectly or overloading the pockets.
Our little extra: to limit washing, invest in a special wool brush to remove dust and keep your coat looking as beautiful as ever.
Washing
First of all, make sure it can be machine washed. Otherwise, hand washed. If the water is not ideal for your coat, head to the dry cleaners to entrust it to professionals! For a longer life, it is recommended to wash your wool coat twice a year: once in the middle of the season, if you wear it regularly and it starts to lose its shine, and once at the end of the season before storing it, to make room for your summer clothes.
Drying
After hand or machine washing, it is important to never twist or wring your wool coat, as this could distort the fibers. To remove excess water, wrap the coat in a clean towel and gently press to squeeze it without stretching it.To dry, lay your coat flat on a clean, absorbent surface, such as a towel or drying mat. It is important not to hang it on a hanger while it is still wet, as this can alter its shape and stretch the wool.
With these good gestures, your wool coat will remain faithful to you!
