Winter is approaching, and with it the imperative to find a coat worthy of the name for the cold season.
More than a bulwark against the elements, the coat is a strong piece, visually imposing and particularly decisive in the construction of a silhouette. In fact, it is therefore advisable to choose it with care , considering each detail carefully. The length, the cut, the volumes, the material: all these parameters have an impact on the final result; and we have studied each of them with the greatest attention to design ours.
The different types of coats
A covering piece designed to cover other clothing, the coat is an essential ally below 10 degrees. Heir to a thousand-year-old history, it has taken dozens of forms over the centuries, still appearing today in various aspects. More or less long, more or less wide, more or less enveloping, more or less structured, it takes on various appearances, some of which particularly inspire us. Here are those that we have chosen to make available to you:
- the wool coat with tailored collar . Made from thick 350 g/m2 wool, this long coat with tailored collar is undoubtedly the most traditional in the wardrobe. With its generous lapels and hidden buttonhole, it will delight lovers of classic elegance with its dry lines, structured shoulders and clean design.
- the double-breasted wool coat. Directly inspired by the pea coat, this reference allows you to button one side alternately over the other depending on the direction of the wind. Originally, this ingenious feature allowed sailors to protect themselves from the cold by limiting drafts. Today, we suggest you use it in the same way on dry land, all with a certain distinction. An elegance to which the generous collar you have before your eyes is no stranger. Available in a very heavy 490g/m2 cloth and in a sublime 366g/m2 Donegal fabric, this coat combines thermal performance and majesty like no other.
- The reversible mac . This two-in-one model plays the versatility card brilliantly. 100% water-repellent cotton on one side and 100% Shetland wool with an ecru and khaki chevron pattern on the other, it combines the useful with the pleasant thanks to a high-precision construction. One water-repellent side for rainy days, a more dressy side for milder weather: this long coat with raglan sleeves is the perfect choice for those who like to combine aesthetics and versatility.
- The Balmacaan. Recognizable by its loose, rounded cut, this coat of Scottish origin is ideal for the coldest days of the year. Particularly enveloping and comforting, we offer you two versions this winter: a green herringbone wool fabric and a brighter gray herringbone fabric .
- The duffle coat. An icon of British elegance, this coat comes straight from the Royal Navy, which decided to equip its sailors with it in the last century. For the first time this winter, this piece of bravery is part of the Hast wardrobe, reworked in an elegant two-tone ecru and beige chevron pattern - a color developed exclusively for us. Of course, you will find all the details that have forged its legend: thick wool, wooden logs, reinforced frogs, adjustable hood, lined sleeves, etc.
- The bomber jacket. Shorter than a jacket, this one cannot claim to be a coat and must be content with that of a “jacket”. Taking as a model certain flight jackets of the American army (notably the references A1, A2 and B3), we have published these two models with a comfortable cut and soft shoulder designed for layering. 100% wool fabric, collar in genuine upcycled sheepskin, durable ribbing, hidden zipper: everything has been designed to keep you warm with lots and lots of style.
A coat for every occasion
As an example rather than as advice, we undertook a perilous exercise: that of associating our coats with different everyday situations.
For a theater evening: the tailored collar coat.
To be or not to be elegant? That is the question. And the answer is always the same with the tailored collar wool coat: yes. A thousand times yes. When it comes to being dressed up, putting it on is without a doubt the best idea. It also works for pleasure, and perhaps more so.
For an afternoon by the sea: the double-breasted wool coat
Born from the sea, our double-breasted coat wouldn't mind a return to its roots for a stroll along the coast. If there's one person who doesn't fear the sea spray and the open air, it's him, and it would be a shame not to take advantage of it. In the most elegant way possible.
For a mid-season business trip: the reversible Mac
Elegant and versatile, the reversible mac is a great ally, especially when the weather is uncertain. A convertible coat, it can turn around from one minute to the next, protecting your suit from the elements and then enhancing your evening outfit (and vice versa).
For winter walks: the Balmacaan
With such a coat on your back, you will love the freezing weekends that you dreaded so much. And for good reason, its thick woolen cloth will allow you to go out as if nothing had happened, without trembling or shivering. And with a particularly neat look, if you please.
For a cozy Saturday: the duffle coat
Brunch with friends? Family outing? Solo stroll? A gray Saturday deserves a fabric that can make it a cozy moment, and the duffle coat is the perfect partner to turn any moment into a comforting one. Panache has never been so cozy.
To fly over the urban jungle: the bomber jacket
Bold and rather casual, the bomber jacket is the ideal companion in an urban context. Short and relatively close to the body, it will be on all your journeys to protect you without weighing you down. It doesn't matter if you're not piloting a Rafale, you'll have a false air of Maverick when you get on your bike.
Some suggestions for combinations to enhance your coat
To finish off in style, we can't resist the pleasure of submitting some ideas for compositions to highlight our different coats. Ready for a little shot of inspiration?
Idea #1: the tailored collar coat highlighted
In winter, more than ever, “earth” colors stand out against the gray of the season. To accompany the brown of our most elegant coats, we suggest a pair of generously cut green pants whose proportions will match the splendor of their neighbor. Like a well of light, a white sweater would draw the eye to the top of the outfit, and particularly to its pinnacle: the remarkable notched lapel collar.
Idea #2: The newly arrived double-breasted coat
To flatter its maritime origins, there is nothing better than to accompany our double-breasted coat with a navy cap and a blue shirt . A hymn to the immortal colors of the sea, sister and friend of this piece modeled on the pea coat.
Idea #3: An ode to texture for the reversible mac
A two-headed beauty, our reversible coat gives you a double dose of texture and promises you twice the functionality. A unique opportunity to emphasize the grain of your outfit by focusing on richly hand-knit fabrics. A fluffy knit and a thick corduroy , it's perfect.
Idea #4: New Elegance with Balmacaan
A distant cousin of the tailored collar coat, the Balmacaan is an invitation to softness. Cozy and enveloping, it advocates for a quiet distinction, closer to Italian aesthetics than English rigor. In keeping with this, we invite you to wear it over a subtly irreverent ensemble: a deconstructed jacket and elasticated waistband pants rather than a suit, for example.
Idea #5: Soft duffle coat
It's a fact: this coat is imposing. To avoid overloading your outfits, we can only advise you to play the minimalism card to accompany it. A light sweater and light pants , that will save you from the pitfall of overabundance while letting the main person concerned take all the light. Thank you for him.
Idea #6: The bomber jacket gains height
With its upcycled sheepskin collar, our bomber jacket is a rather intimidating piece. To tame it delicately, we advise you to add sober pieces to temper the whole thing. A monochrome around ecru and light gray can for example be interesting, like here with a shaggy dog sweater and cream pants . As a final point, a pair of dark loafers would conclude the ensemble in the most beautiful way.
Everyone has their own needs, their own style, their own coat. Tailored collar, double-breasted, reversible, duffle, Balmacaan or aviator, it's now up to you to choose.
