When we created Hast, we had a simple vision: to offer high-quality products, with beautiful materials and a particular requirement for finishes, by applying lower margins than the current market by simply freeing ourselves from distributors.
A relatively underdeveloped business model when we started in 2012, which is now experiencing a growing success. And that's a good thing, because more and more of us want (and are able) to make things change.
Beyond the good quality/price ratio, we had in mind the ecological and ethical question on the making of our shirts. Made in France was incompatible with prices accessible to the greatest number, but we wanted to remain as "local" as possible, wishing to minimize pollution due to transport.
To ensure that people are respected in the manufacturing of our shirts, we have chosen to work with a workshop located in the north-east of Europe, in the Baltic countries or further south, in Portugal. We regularly visit our partners to check the quality of our shirts as well as the working conditions. The fabrics, for their part, come from Italy, Portugal, or Japan (the exception that proves the rule, but we cannot turn away from the formidable Japanese know-how)!
The same expertise applies to our accessories: our ties and bow ties are made in one of the best specialized workshops, on the shores of Lake Como, in Italy. Our “upcycled” boxer shorts are made in Portugal and our vegetable-tanned belts are assembled in the workshops of a French company labeled “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant”, located in northern Spain.
For almost six years, we have been working closely with passionate partners, while controlling our costs, to offer you products that last over time but are always accessible.
Our bet was daring and we took it up.
